The Ratchanee gives the classic pleated sabai a little more depth. Most pleated sabai are made from smooth, high-gloss fabric. This one is woven in a soft satin with a fine crinkled texture, similar to kamyi cloth. Light catches on that rippled surface, so the color looks rich and shimmery rather than flat and shiny.
Long vertical pleats run from the shoulder across the bust and fall smoothly instead of standing out stiffly. The fabric drapes well. It lies close to the body as you wrap it and hangs in soft folds over the shoulder.
At 3 meters long, there’s plenty of length to wrap across the body and let the end fall over one shoulder in the traditional way. It arrives ready to use, so you can wear it straight from the package to a wedding, merit-making ceremony, Songkran, temple visit, cultural performance, or photoshoot.
